What if

This space has been dormant for a while. I've been swamped with my new company and finishing up the website for launch, but I had to share this amazing video of Ron Paul's recent "What if" speech.

Enjoy.

for ridiculous demands...

Who's Gonna Pay for It?

In reading about the demonstrations last month in which homeowners demanded the federal government extract money from their fellow citizens in order to pay down or renegotiate their mortgages, I came across a list of demands of Brenda Stokely on the Marxist "Workers World" website. My interest was piqued, and decided to ask Ms Stokely, just who she was making demands of. The letter, in its entiretry, is below:

Ms Stokely,

I recently read an article on Workers World in which you were quoted as saying the following:

Lessons (and losses) in Liberty this Election

There are more important outcomes this election season than who won the presidency. Don't get me wrong, I certainly recognize the historical significance of the first black president. I also realize it is a criticism of government that it has taken so long for an African American to ascend to the "highest office in the land". The federal government is way behind private enterprise in this regard, just look and the diversity among the executive leadership of corporate America.

Perhaps more importantly than who won the horse race for Constitution-breaker-in-Chief is the ideology of the average American voter. For that, we need to look at the questions that weren't on the ballot. We're talking exit polls.

Quote of the Day: "Under democracy, one party always devotes its chief energies to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule - and both commonly succeed, and are right." Source: "Minority Report" (The Johns Hopkins University Press, 1997 [1956]), p. 222

Subject: A state of permanent preparedness for impeachment

It's Election Day. What should we say about it? We're tempted to declare it a day of mourning, but instead, we're going to argue that today is the day to adopt a state of permanent preparedness for impeachment.

to endorse theocracy...

Ron Paul's Gaffe

Much has been said about the apparent rift in the liberty caucus. From Bob Barr's apparent snub of the Paulian We Agree statement and subsequent press conference, Dr. Paul's endorsement of Chuck Baldwin. The one thing I haven't heard anyone mention is whether the Constution Party is any more constitutional than the PATRIOT Act is patriotic.

to ignore abuses of power...

Still doubting we live in a dangerous police state?

Jake, the Champion of the Constitution reports at Nolan chart that,
Iraq Veterans Against the War were trampled by mounted police during a peaceful protest at the last presidential debate.

Protesters were assaulted, harassed, threatened, told they had no rights, and even threatened with prison rape.

The marchers were attempting to ask a couple questions of Senators Barack Obama and John McCain as they were debating. Nick Morgan, Iraq war veteran, was trampled by a police horse on his ribs and face, breaking his orbital in three places

Spontaneous Order and the Failure of Government

John Stossel lays it all out in this must-see 20/20 special, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Politics.

Sometimes I'm really glad Stossel has the pulpit he does, and this is one of those times. He is probably the most visible libertarian in the mainstream media.
