Data Mining Does Not Work
A new National Research Council Report on the efficacy of federal data mining has concluded the obvious. Due to unwillingness of the American people to doubt the soundbytes of their government masters, reports like this occasionally need to be released by non-political independent agencies.
The report found that data mining "is neither feasible as an objective nor desirable as a goal of technology development efforts", and that flagging innocent citizens as potential terrorists is "inevitable". So much for the argument that if you're obeying the law you have nothing to worry about.
